Today Green Energy International’s Directors held a strategic review meeting with The Scottish Government. In January 2017 the Scottish Government published a consultation document entitled ‘The Future of Energy in Scotland’ with the Ministerial forward by Paul Wheelhouse MSP, Minister for Business, Innovation and Energy. It sets out a proposed energy strategy to 2050 including 50% of energy requirements from renewables and an almost complete decarbonisation of the energy system – in line with domestic and international climate change targets.

During the meeting Paul Wheelhouse and his colleague Christine McKay stressed the Scottish Governments desire to become less reliant on fossil fuels. With a large presence of wind energy, Scotland are looking to introduce Solar PV to complement this. Whilst they would like to offer a subsidy to bolster the interest in Scotland their hands are tied by central Government. What has been offered is support for our solar PV applications.

Green Energy International’s CEO Arthur Bell commented that “We were delighted with the outcome of our meeting and look forward to progressing our first two sites in Scotland”.
